Learning the conventions of cartooning and being given the opportunity to conceptualize
the characters and develop a cartoon strip from scratch was a challenge Pippa Lugg
had hoped to tackle one day.
She got the opportunity when
General Motors commissioned Pippa to develop a cartoon strip
, 'Transformers', to be used for their internal communications.
Pippa created five 'Transformer' characters: Carol (the HR lady), Sipho (the older,
wise man), Mike (the young technical oke), Gloria (the always have the last word
woman) and Attie (the funny man of the group).
In the case of the General Motors 'Transformers', the client decides on the wording
for the cartoon strips and Pippa uses the characters to convey the message humorously.
